The Microbubble Infusion Unit (MiFU™)
The Microbubble Infusion Unit (MiFU™) is a compact, stand-alone and retrofittable technology that infuses produced water with gas using patented equipment and methodology to enhance an asset’s existing oil-water and fine solids-water separation performance.
MiFU™ can be retrospectively deployed at both new and existing production facilities, to improved OIW quality and PWRI performance. Where production is bottlenecked due to produced water volumes the MiFU will improve separation performance to allow more production to be processed.
The MiFU™ can uniquely produce and deploy dissolved gas and induced gas microbubbles, or even a combination of both methods at the same time. The unit produces the optimum flotation gas quantity and quality based on the clients’ process requirements with minimal disruption to the process, such that the maximum separation efficiency can be achieved.
The application technique allows different microbubble size ranges to be deployed at a single or multiple injection points into a single existing separation vessel. Additionally, the technique can simultaneously add microbubble gas flotation to multiple vessels or flowlines as required to achieve the maximum separation efficiency.
The application is controlled automatically and unlike conventional microbubble gas flotation applications the MiFU application is unaffected by process system slugging or vessel movement (FPSO).
MiFU™ - Maximising production and improving environmental performance through adaptive solutions
Features and Advantages:
Wide gas bubble size range (30 to 1,000 µm) from a
single unit
Gas bubble size and concentration is controlled
Feed to the unit and subsequent microbubble deployment is a side stream process. MiFU™ is not an inline unit this facilitates ease of retrofit
Small footprint and low deck loading
(4.9 x 2.0 x 2.3 m | 5,000 kg | 500 kg/m2)The MiFU™ does not need to be located with the existing fluid separation process system this allows additional laydown options to be considered.
Ability to treat a wide flow rate range due to side stream application and high turndown ratio capability.
Rated to ATEX Zone 1 Hazardous Area
Multiple opportunities to apply between primary, secondary and tertiary PWT systems
MiFU™ performance is not affected by fluid movement (FPSO) or process system slugging
No routine intervention or manual handling issues and no NORM waste disposal concerns compared to filtration units
Technology Status: Field Proven
Originally designed for the Oil & Gas industry, but ready for any onshore applications requiring wastewater treatment improvement.
Applications:
Topsides Produced Water Treatment
Production Debottlenecking
Off-spec Fluids Tank Treatment (FPSO)
Industrial Wastewater Treatment
